Fall will be here before we know it, so I'm starting to work on making custom cookie cutter STL files to 3D print at home. Hoodies are a staple for me in the fall, so I just had to design a hoodie cookie cutter! Plus from the many cute hoodie custom cookies I’ve seen on social media, I think it’s a really versatile cutter and it was time for me to make one for myself.
I generally search for images in Canva (I have a pro account), but there’s lots of other sources, especially if you aren’t planning to print the designs with Eddie, which requires a higher image quality. I picked out a basic hoodie image from Canva because it best fit what I was envisioning. I wanted a really versatile hoodie, from a front view, and without too many extra details in the shape. After making some minor edits in Cookie Design Lab, I converted it into an STL file. Now I can easily 3D print this cookie cutter and be ready for fall markets and presales!
Here are some of the ways I’m already thinking I could use this custom cookie cutter in my bakery:
As part of a birthday set with the logo of a company the recipient loves (e.g. Nike, Lululemon, Adidas);
College and University logos for sororities as part of fall rush, or as part of a care package from a parent, or a graduation cookie set;
For local businesses, that want a cookie version to match their merchandise as a thank you to their customers;
Decorated with fall phrases or patterns for markets and pre-sales.
I created a Pinterest board with a few inspiration pictures - check it out here (https://www.pinterest.com/cookiedesignlab/).
Not sure how to make your own STL files to print cookie cutters at home? Neither was I! I tried various programs and was frustrated with the results, so my husband created Cookie Design Lab for me, and now it's available to everyone!
